Key Takeaways from Mobile World Congress 2015
Pages: 17 | Price: $0.00
Last week we attended Mobile World Congress 2015 in Barcelona, Spain. We spent the week running from meeting to meeting while trying to absorb everything that we were hearing and seeing. Although we can’t come close to claiming that we saw it all – we’ve yet to enter Hall 8 and until we returned we didn’t even know there was a Hall 9 – we did identify a few themes and cool things which crossed our radar screen that we’d like to share with our readers. Given that we drank from a fire hose for an entire week, we apologize in advance if we misinterpreted something that we heard, left out a key theme that others felt existed, or excluded mentioning a company who was also showcasing something directly related to the themes we identified.

We just returned from Seoul, South Korea where we spent four days testing the LG U+ LTE-Advanced 300 Mbps network. We used the LG G Flex 2 (Model LG-F510L) smartphone with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 to conduct the study. Huawei Technologies is the Radio Access Network (RAN) supplier in Seoul. We logged all network performance data with the Accuver XCAL-Solo or the XCAL-Harmony drive test tools and we conducted the preliminary analysis with the Accuver XCAP post processing software.

We’ve got several topics in the works but unfortunately, none of them are fully baked. To paraphrase the marketing pitch of the esteemed maker of fine boxed and jug wine,

Earlier in the month we attended the Informa VoLTE Summit in “balmy” London. In addition to presenting results from our VoLTE benchmark study during the first day of the event (available for download from our home page), we had the opportunity to hear from operators around the globe regarding their VoLTE aspirations as well as from vendors who all seemed to have a cure for the VoLTE bug. All in all it was a good event to attend, in particular given the singular focus of the event.
