SRG just spent the day drive testing 5G NR network coverage in Las Vegas, Nevada. In this Signals Flash report we include coverage maps for all 5G networks, including Dish Network, Verizon (Bn5 and Bn77), T-Mobile (Bn71 and Bn41) and AT&T (Bn5).
Highlights of the Report include the following:
Our Thanks. We did this study in collaboration with Rohde & Schwarz who provided us with its TSMA6 scanner to log all the 5G NR bands between 600 MHz and 3.7 GHz. SRG did all the testing and analysis of the data and we are solely responsible for the commentary in the report.
Our Methodology. We picked our own drive routes to cover as much territory as possible. It was by no means exhaustive in terms of where we tested but our results provide great insight. Our analysis focused on signal strength (RSRP) and signal quality (SINR) as well as unique cell sector (PCI) values).
The Results. It is clear operators who have been rolling out 5G NR networks for some time have the coverage advantage. Further, there is an important distinction between having great coverage and great quality coverage. Bn41 has the best quality coverage while low band frequencies typically suffer from having high interference across cells.
Teaser. This report was sent out over a 5G NR connection capable of supporting uplink speeds exceeding 550 Mbps. Stay tuned!
