Our thoughts on CMCC’s 3-carrier LTE TDD carrier aggregation network

Late last week we found ourselves in Guangzhou, China where CMCC is in the initial stages of deploying LTE TDD with carrier aggregation (CA). The operator is currently evaluating the benefits of carrier aggregation in its LTE TDD network (Band 41) with plans to deploy the capa- bility across its network in the future at which point it will have the world’s largest LTE-Advanced network. At the moment, the test cluster in Guangzhou is largely comprised of 2-carrier CA sites although there are also a few sites that support 3-carrier CA. ZTE is the RAN infrastructure supplier in Guangzhou.
